M-Town’s most successful actor-filmmaker-producer is all set to make his mark on OTT and has reportedly signed to direct a Hindi web series inspired by the life of Rajan Pillai, India’s ‘Biscuit King’.
Born in a small town in Kerala, Pillai went on to study at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, including Harvard Business School. After completing his studies, he returned to India and started working for the Britannia Biscuit Company. He was soon promoted to the position of Vice President.
Pillai harbored dreams of running his biscuit company and eventually resigned from Britannia to start his venture. However, his efforts did not go down well with his former employers, who filed a lawsuit against him. The lawsuit dragged on for several years and he was forced to sell his shares in the company, but his troubles did not end there. In 1995, Pillai was arrested on charges of cheating and forgery and sentenced to life imprisonment. His mysterious death in prison created quite a stir. There were rumors of foul play, and many people believed that he was a victim of corporate rivalry.
Prithviraj has a slew of films at different stages of production. His other projects include Aadujeevitham, Khalifa, Vilayath Buddha and Kaaliyan. Prithviraj is also working alongside Akshay Kumar in Bade Miyaan Chote Miyaan. Later, the actor-filmmaker will take a break from his acting career to concentrate on his upcoming directorial venture L2: Empuraan, which is a sequel to his directorial debut Lucifer. The movie features superstar Mohanlal in the lead role.
